- Starting pay is $34.08 per hour
- $2,000 Sign-On Bonus
- $1000 Annual tool/work boot reimbursement of approved tools and/or steel toed shoes

Purpose:
Performs highly skilled repairs and maintenance of diesel and natural gas-driven automotive equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Performs Maine State Inspection of all METRO vehicles.
● Diagnosis trouble, disassembles engines, electrical and fuel systems, etc., and examines parts for defects and excessive wear including Forklifts and Sweeper
● Performs tests, repairs, tune-ups, brake jobs, and other preventative maintenance.
● Reconditions and replaces parts, such as pistons, bearings, gears, valves, and bushings, using engine lathes, boring machines, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments.
● Responds to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service.
● May assist and serve as backup to other Facilities employees.
● May assist in snow removal activities such as plowing and snow blowing.
Essential Aptitudes and Functions:
● Required ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
● Maintain a high degree of skill in recognizing, locating, and adjusting defects.
● Perform complex diagnostic procedures on all vehicle systems; determine appropriate maintenance and repairs.
● Effectively use hand tools and automotive diagnostic equipment; interpret manufacturers’ specifications.
Minimum Requirements
● High School Diploma/GED
●Valid Commercial Driver License A or B; a passenger endorsement is preferred.
● Obtain Maine State Inspection License within 6 months of employment
● Knowledge of parts and processes of using tools book to look up parts
● Computer Skills
● Must be able to read, write, and speak the English Language effectively
● ASE certifications preferred
CDL License and Permit Eligibility Requirements:
- Work authorization requirement: Must be a U.S. citizen, green card holder, or qualifying visa holder (H-2A, H-2B, or E2) Other statuses (e.g. EAD-only, DACA, TPS, asylum pending) are not eligible after March 16, 2026.
- License and documentation requirements: Non-domiciled applicants must remove "Non-Domicile" status from their license (if applicable) and provide valid, unexpired immigration documents (passport, I-94, and visa) to qualify for CDL/CLP.
Minimum Physical Requirements
● Ability to stand for up to 9 hours per day
● Requires capacity to lift up to 75 lbs. unassisted
● Capacity to start, stop, control, and adjust the actions of machines
● Must be able to safely use manual tools and power equipment
● Must be able to handle hazardous materials safely

Pay: From $34.08 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
